James Wesley Dingus, 93, passed away on July 4, 2016 in his home with his daughter and caregiver by his side. Born in Coeburn, VA he was a past member of Kempsville United Methodist Church in VA Beach. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 30 years of service, working his way from slinging a sledge hammer to Terminal Supervisor of the Norfolk Division. He was a well-loved supervisor who earned the respect of his coworkers. He was an avid fisherman, gardener and card player.
Mr. Dingus is predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Edith A. Dingus. He is survived by his loving daughter, Dana D. Striffler; his loving son-in-law, Bruce; his brother, Barney Dingus and his wife, Mary of Coeburn, VA; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. He was a devoted husband, father and friend who will be missed dearly.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 – 8:30 pm on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. A funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 8, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
