Obituary of Jane Theresa Taylor
Jane Theresa Taylor, 97, passed away June 24, 2022. Jane was born in Cleveland, Ohio in November, 1924. When she was a young girl she was taken into a foster home from an orphanage and raised as the daughter of Anna and Charles Kozdera along with their three daughters. She loved having sisters and later learned in life that she had several other siblings. Jane worked in many different fields in her long life including as a teacher’s aide in a nursery school, at Kempsville Junior High in the cafeteria and in the dining room at Luther Manor nursing home. She was most proud of being a military spouse, a mother, a grandmother and a great-grandmother. As a military spouse she relished the fact that her duties of keeping the family running smoothly and supporting her soldier were just as important as being a soldier. As a mother she supported her children in all they did and provided them with great moral values, immense love, and exemplified the virtue of patience. As a grandmother, she provided the ever needed child care, wisdom, and hard to find gifts that children so desperately want. As a great-grandmother she provided unconditional love to the large brood. She was a devote Catholic who lived her life on earth knowing it would continue on in heaven. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Capt. C C Taylor and her son Chuck Taylor. She is survived by her children, Michael (Getta) Taylor, Patricia (Matthew) Williford, and Mary (Brian) McElligott. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tristan (Jenny) and Mikey Taylor, Kevin, Justin (Holly), Brian, and Katie Mashek, Jessica (Steven Abbott), Brian Joshua (Stephanie), Matthew, and Daniel McElligott, and Danielle Williford; 11 great-granddaughters; and 1 great-grandson. A Funeral Mass will be held July 7, 2022 at 10:00 am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Lynnhaven Parkway. Visitation will be at Kellum Funeral Home on Witchduck Road on July 6 from 6-8 pm. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
