Johnnie Roosevelt Slade Jr., age 77, of Norfolk, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. In Loving Memory of Johnnie Roosevelt Slade Jr. Johnnie Roosevelt Slade Jr., a giant of compassion, empathy, joy, and community, peacefully passed away on November 29th, 2023. He faced his illness with unwavering strength, finding solace and excitement in his relationship with the Lord, even when verbal expression became challenging. Devoted to his late wife, Patricia, who departed in August, Johnnie carried the memory of her love and adoration throughout his final days. He took pride in his son, Jarvan Bryan, who demonstrated remarkable strength in the face of disability and illness. Together, they shared a bond that transcended physical limitations. Johnnie found peace in his faith, and his joy in discussing the Lord was palpable, even amidst the difficulties of communication. His enduring spirit and resilient demeanor served as an inspiration to all who knew him. Born to Johnnie and Lovie Ann Slade, he joined them and his son Jarvan in eternal rest, free from pain and sorrow. Reunited with his beloved wife, Johnnie can now rejoice with his family, grateful for the strength that carried them through their respective journeys. He is survived by his oldest brother, James Silverthorne, and sister, Sudie Norman. United in grief, his cousins, James Snead and Helena Snead, along with brother-in-law Lawrence Norman, formed a steadfast support unit. Johnnie leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews, all touched by his enduring love. In addition to his wife, son, and parents, Johnnie was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Slade. The family expresses deep gratitude to the Hampton VA Medical Center for their compassionate and dedicated care, ensuring Johnnie's comfort around the clock. As we bid farewell to a man who left an indelible mark on our hearts, let us remember Johnnie Roosevelt Slade Jr. for the love, joy, and strength he brought into our lives. A visitation for Johnnie will be held Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N Witchduck Rd, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462.
