Josephine "Jo" Rodriguez Guenther

She was preceded in death by her parents Gabino and Julia Rodriguez and her first husband Vance Read Clifton, her second husband Francis "Pat" Umphlett and most recent beloved husband of 51 years Harold "Buddy" Guenther; and a son Vance Read Clifton Jr., two brothers Raymond Rodriguez and Anthony Rodriguez.

Jo was raised in Tampa Florida and was the daughter of Spanish immigrants who hailed from Asturias, Spain. She lived in the Tidewater area most of her adult life. Jo worked at NOB for over 20 years and went on to own and operate Sun Bay Contracting in Virginia Beach for 19 years.

Jo was loving and generous but a spicy and feisty woman who left an undeniable impression upon all whom she met. Always quick with a smile and a helping hand. Jo was a petite woman with a huge heart and sharp tongue, you were never in doubt about her views on any given subject. She had a deep devotion to helping animals of all kinds, through her own rescue adoptions and donations to animal causes.

Survivors include her daughter Vanessa Hummel and husband Matthew; four grandchildren, Brian Clifton (Ann), Jared Mosley (Jen), Rachel Cutchin (James) and Conner Clifton, great grandchildren Collin Clifton, Landon Bell, Josie Mae Mosley, Kai Clifton, Lawless Cutchin, Nathan Cutchin and Matthew Cutchin.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home.
