Kathryn L. Hufton, 95, a breast cancer survivor, passed away on February 24, 2019, after losing her battle to dementia. She was born on September 15,1923 to the late Hiram P. Sr., and Bessie G. Neathery in Portsmouth, Virginia. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Lonnie E. Hufton; brothers Hiram P. Jr., Jack and Marvin Neathery; sisters Evelyn Ballance, Jean Turman and Doris Mae Neathery. She is also preceded in death by her brothers-in-law Patrick Jeter and Thomas Ralston; sister-in-law Delaine Neathery, along with her son-in-law Charles(Charlie)Dunlap.
She is survived by her brother Richard Neathery; sisters Vivian Jeter and Betty Ann Ralston; daughters Ann H. Dunlap, Linda Hufton-Guha (Sanjib) and Deborah (Dody) Doughty; grandchildren Randa Cain, Todd Dunlap (Wynne), John Angelson (Christie), Christina Hack (Arthur), Nick Henderson (Jennifer), Chris Henderson (Ashley) and Josh Henderson; great-grandchildren Isaac Cain (Chandalae), Joshua Cain, Blaire Coombs, Brook Flucker (Ronald), Brittani Salamon (Donnie) and Paul Angelson; and great-great-grandchildren Carter Cain, Cole Salamon, Anna Hack, Alexia Hack, Kaylin Hack, Colton Hudgins, Caleb Henderson, Hunter Henderson and Harper Henderson.
Kathryn loved serving Jehovah God and did so until the end. She was baptized on September 29, 1956 and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Kathryn and Lonnie were married on September 15, 1940. She was a housewife as well as retiring from her and Lonnie’s printing business, Hufton's Job Printing, in 1978. In her spare time, Kathryn was an Amateur Radio Ham Operator, known by her call letters K4TVW. Her and Lonnie (K4EHO) would talk to people all around the world, making new friends. She was a Beautiful, Amazing Wife, Mom (Best Friend), Sister, Aunt, Grandma, Great and Great-Great Grandma. She will be missed by all and forever in our hearts.
Thank You to her caregivers, especially Neicy and Grace that gave our Mom, Kathryn Hufton Comfort, Love and Care at home with so much respect. We are eternally grateful.
We would also like to give a Special Thank You to Magnolia Manor, Heather, Ashley, Taylor and every caretaker that provided Love, Comfort and Care to our mom, Kathryn Hufton. It made moms last days, home away from home. We are blessed and eternally grateful to each and every one of you.
Finally, we say Thank You to all her brothers and sisters in her congregation at the Kingdom Hall of The Jehovah's Witnesses and others who touched her life. She was blessed with love and the friendships from so many, as she loved them in return.
A Celebration of Life will be on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 2 p.m. with a visitation from 1-2 p.m. in Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach VA. Burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park. The family invites you to a reception immediately following the graveside.
