It is with heavy hearts and immense sadness that we announce the unforeseen passing of Krystal Lynn Black, 30, of Virginia Beach, Va on March 13, 2026. Krystal is predeceased by her father Elbert E. Black Jr., eldest brother Edward A. Black, maternal grandparents Yvonna and Jaime Santos, and paternal great-grandparents David and Lois Beck.
She is survived by her precious little daughter Emory Blake Cardeno and loving boyfriend Jose Cardeno; devoted mother Sharon Black; protective and nurturing older brothers David (Chelsea) and Stephen (Danielle); doting grandparents Elbert and Carolyn; adoring niece and nephews David II, Stephen Jr, and Vivian. Caring aunt Karen (Crystal), and uncle Jaime.
Krystal was born November 24, 1995 in Virginia Beach, Va. She was the youngest and only girl of four children. From the moment she was born she became the pride and joy of the entire family. She earned the name bug because she carried around a giant stuffed ladybug. Tagging along with her three older brothers from a young age, she was determined to emulate them and prove she could be just as tough. Coached by her father, she played softball for Aragona Pembroke Little League for much of her youth. There she would make great friends and lasting memories. Her energetic personality radiated confidence and spunk that was magnetic. She enjoyed countless family trips driving down to Florida with her grandparents and brothers. Krystal reveled in heading to Lake Gaston with family and friends to enjoy a fun weekend of fishing, swimming, and relaxation. She loved to read and spend time snuggled up with her two dogs Turbo and Maggie. Her smile was beautiful and her laughter loud and contagious. Krystal was kind and always willing to help out a friend in need if she could. Part of her charm was she didn't hesitate to speak her mind and would always give it to you straight.
Family ties have always been important to Krystal. She grew up in a large loving family, while also accumulating many friends throughout her 30 years who love her just as dearly. In June of 2024 she became a mother to a beautiful baby girl and got to experience the ultimate form of love. Her boundless devotion to her daughter fueled her underlying grit to never give up even when things were tough. She loved being a Mommy to Emory and her spirit lives on through her daughter. The memory of Krystal will be cherished by all those fortunate enough to have known her.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday March 18th from 4-8pm at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach VA.
In honor of Krystal's memory her family wishes to give her the most monumental ceremony in the celebration of her life. Service will be Thursday March 19th at 10am at New Heights Fellowship. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
