On Sunday, May 28, 2023, Leonardo Somera Lambinicio, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away. He was eighty-five. Born in Tagudin, Ilocos Sur, Philippines to Lucio and Antonia, Leo was the sixth of seven children.
Leonardo was also known as Leo, and Narding to close friends and family.
Leo spent 24 years serving in the U.S. Navy as a culinary specialist. Thereafter, he worked a combined 24 years at Sears Automotive and Virginia Beach City Public Schools as an automotive technician. He thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie amongst his work mates, which is what kept him working until age 78.
Leo was active with the Eastern Tagudinians Association and the Fil-Am Veterans of Hampton Roads. Every year, he was proud to march in the annual Virginia Beach Memorial Day parade as a member of the Fil-Am Vets. He loved cooking, fishing, gardening, and watching his favorite TV shows: pro wrestling, boxing, and Jeopardy. Everyone who knew Leo was likely treated to wonderful food, a warm sense of humor, and stories of his life and times as a child growing up in the Philippines and his many experiences while in the Navy.
Leo is survived by his wife, Leticia, children, Cyndi (Martin) and Glen (Diedre), grandson, Oliver, and sisters, Anastasia and Carolina.
A visitation for Leonardo will be held Sunday, June 25, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N Witchduck Rd, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462.
