Wish you were here, I miss you giving me a hard time, asking how my day was and so much more. Things are so different without you here with us. I have all our memories that we made, just wish we had more time. I think of you everyday, everything reminds me of you. So much to say but I find myself at a loss for words!
I love and miss you so much! Each day is a struggle without you, I never imagined us without you! I will hold every little thing the past 26 years tucked within my heart. There are so many awesome things about you and I am one of the luckiest girls in the world to find the love we shared. We always managed to work through all the rough times cause all the good out did the bad! Thank you for being the great man you were! Your Love is and was completely unconditional! You love me no matter what and I love to the bottom of my soul! Thank you for raising my daughter as your own and thank you for our beautiful son! 
Our time was too short, I wanted to grow old with you but we will be together again.

Oh,  how I wish I hadn't been such a yellow belly today and stood up to speak all that was and has been weighing on my heart. You,  Michele & Blake came into my life almost 3 years ago when we were on the search for someone to care for and love Carson and Jaxson when I returned to work after my maternity leave. (We had known/knew Cassie much longer but that's to be left at that )
Linwood over time you became so much more to our family and our boys than I could ever put into words. You became our Winwood,  Jaxson loved him some Winwood.  Some days I almost wondered if Michele became chopped liver to him because when he saw your truck in the morning he knew you were home and he lit up. 
As the days drew on for you,  you never skipped a beat.  When days I couldn't imagine how I was going to make it past dinner time after work I would pull up to pick up the boys and there you were mowing the grass,  changing the oil or telling Cassie how to vacuum the pool correctly here you were fighting the fight of your life and you were trudging on and me my measly day at the office was nothing compared to that. 
Everyone talked today about your smile oh how we'll all miss that smile.  It is an amazing smile that you can't help but smile back to. 
Everyday when I put on my "Laroo" (cause you know it's rare for me to go a day without it)  I will forever hear you saying "oh nah" I have to admit sometimes I wanted to find the tackiest wackiest of prints just to see your reaction when I walked through the door.  And you don't have to keep it a secret anymore you loved seeing Jaxson in his baby leggings.  It's ok we know.  
Winwood,  you will always hold a special place in Peanut Head and Ham's heart and mine and Tim's as well. Thank you for even on your darkest of days making sure you cracked Carson's peanut head and never passed up a pound followed by your fireworks for Jaxson. We'll see you later.  Have some brisket waiting.  
Michele,  Blake & Cassie my heart aches for the pains and heartache you are facing.  Each of the times I visited Linwood and asked how he was doing or feeling he would tell me,  "you know one day at a time." So tonight I tell you all this,  One day at a time.  That's all you can do, take it one day at a time.  
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for opening your home,  your family and your love to me and mine.  Michele we love you and we are here for you.  Blake you're destined to do great things keep your chin up and follow your dreams.  Cassie we've had our pep talks.

Oh, Linwood  It has been a little over a month since you have passed and it still does not seem real to me.  Every time we get together with Michele and the kids a part of me is waiting for you to appear.  Just the other night we were sitting around like with always do and Michele started laughing so hard, she was crying, her face was beet red and all I could think of was you and what you would say to her and your facial expressions of what in the world is wrong with you, Michele?  Oh my gosh, what I wouldn't give to see that again  I miss our crazy weekends together and wish you were still here.  When I think back on the day that you passed it was heartbreaking, however, you were surrounded by your family and dearest friends that love you.  The day of your visitation so many people came to pay their respects, you touched so many people in the short time you walked this earth. Everyone that spoke at your services told wonderful stories and Joe even danced.  Granted he was doing the Linwood but he was dancing all the same All of your cars were there, and following the service, did a final drive-by before heading back home.  As we sit here and think about all of the little things that happened during the first week or so of you passing, we know that you had everything to do with itfrom the hornets on the Oldsmobile attacking Jimmy, to tires blowing out on trailers.  I am sure that you and Eddie were just laughing your tails off  ha, ha, ha!   Linwood, we love you and know that when we see each other again I will be expecting my BBQ chicken I love ya Lin.

Linwood had such a good heart. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Michele, and all those who loved him. It is hard to say goodbye, but I hope you can look at the time together and know it was worth it. ❤

Love you and miss you brother!  When I saw you for the last time in the hospital and you said, "I ain't going nowhere" I couldn't believe how strong and positive you were, but I realized then, that your spirit will live on in all of us.  Knowing you are no longer in pain and suffering from cancer is the only thing helping me accept the fact you are gone!  It is still so hard to believe.  I could not have asked for a better brother and uncle to Rachel and Andrew.  The memories of all the good times shared will live on and be shared so you will live on forever-    You were the best jungle gym, game player, and pony for your nieces and nephews; the best grill master of beef brisket and barbeque; and the life of the party no matter where you were because you made everyone laugh, if not from making jokes, then from acting goofy or dancing.   Your cooking was always delicious and every time I make deviled eggs, Barbeque, and rum cake I will think happy thoughts of you and your cooking.   Growing up was always an adventure with you as you were the risk taker: Hiking and three-wheelers in the woods, making ramps to jump with bicycles, playing in the pool, and even using pool floats to glide on a frozen ditch.  Like dad, you were the one to ask to fix something or you would tear things apart to see how they worked.  No matter what we were doing there were always laughs and lots of fun, even when Judy and I tied you to a tree playing cowboys and Indians and mom made us untie you-   We have lots of memories of good times and these are the things I will keep close to my heart.  I love you-

You were the best brother a sister could have.  You were always ready to lend a hand, give a smile, or say something humorous to make me laugh. Since we weren't even a year a part we shared many birthdays and you would always remind me we were the same age for a week. I have a lot of fond memories of our time together growing up and I will keep them close.  You left us way too soon but you fought a good fight and knowing that you are without pain now makes it a little easier. It was hard to hug you and say goodbye that last time but I'm so glad I got to, rest in peace brother.  I Love and Miss You!

When the Heffingtons catered lunches for Buckland School, I was the only vegetarian on staff. They always made a special pasta salad for me knowing I couldn't eat the regular food. They even sent home the leftovers for me to have for another meal. How special. What kind people to be around. And their son, Blake, wow. Never saw him without a beautiful smile. It's pretty rare these days to meet someone and know that simply by being friends with that person, it has made you a better version of yourself.  Thank you, Linwood....for making me....better.

Lyn always had a smile on his face. I remember going to Jenros with Susan and we would all hang out together. He never minded having us around. My thoughts and prayers are with the Heffington family. He was a great man and will be missed by everyone he touched.

My condolences to your family in your time of loss.

My condolences go to the immediate family as well as the VDOT family.  I had the pleasure of working at VDOT while Linwood was there and he was the most helpful and sincere person you would want to meet.  Just know now that he is no longer suffering and is finally at peace and all of us who had the pleasure of knowing him will always have the memories.

I enjoyed working with Linwood at the VDOT District Shop for 16 years. I retired Feb.1 of this year. We had a fun time at the EBA Christmas parties when he would always ask the DJ to play "Who Let the Dogs Out" for me. He was a great BBQ and Chicken Chef. We are praying for his family. We have truly lost a great guy. Fred Brinkley

I am so saddened by this. Lin is one of very few people from my childhood that I wish I had never lost touch with. We had so much fun playing in the woods, swimming, riding bikes, building Lego stuff, making soda, cleaning carburetors or whatever part needed rebuilding, and just generally hanging out. The memories are overwhelming me. He always had a smile and created cherished memories without effort. Dot and Linwood always welcomed me like family. Susan, Judy and Sandra were always part of the fun. I miss you all very much, you are very much in my thoughts and prayers.

He was the nicest, most caring, fun loving person you could ever know.  I had the honor to be his friend for 16 years.

Our sincere condolences to Lyn's family, you were always a joy whenever you were around.  I remember when we lived in Virginia Beach (we moved after our mother passed to Delaware, Alabama, North Carolina & now back to Va Bch) and had Thanksgiving Dinner at my house you were the life of the party.
