Margaret Coyle Malone McMahon Leake

Margaret Leake, age 84, passed away peacefully in the early morning of March 11, 2026, at home in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was born on May 17, 1941, in Glasgow, Scotland, a daughter of the late John Joseph and Bridget McMahon.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Rosie Wilmot, Josephine Sales, Lily Young, and Bridie Bennett; two brothers, Jackie McMahon and William McMahon.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Army Joe Leake Sr.; four sons, William (Suneeta) Ahmed, Joseph Ahmed (Joe), Manzoor Ahmed (Johnny), and Army (Lisa) Joe Leake II. Her influence continues to shine through her large family. She has been blessed with 17 grandchildren including Zohra, Mundanna, Sophia, Deen, Shamara, Shamila, Joseph, and Christopher; as well as 9 other cherished grandchildren. Margaret was also the adored great-grandmother of 13 great-grandchildren. Survivors also include sisters, Mary Mearns and Frances Commisso; brother-in-law, Marty Leake; sisters-in-law, Maretha (Errion) Martin and Marla Leake; as well as beloved nephews and nieces who live in the United States and Scotland.

Her family will remember her as soft and gentle, but also a woman of strength. Margaret’s dedication to her family was evident in every act of kindness, sacrifice, and guidance she offered. She will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew her, but her spirit lives on in the generation she leaves behind. Amen.
