Obituary of Marilyn F. Asby
Marilyn F. Asby, 90, went home to be with her Lord peacefully at her home on December 11, 2018. She fought the good fight. She has finished the race, she kept the faith, and she will receive the crown of righteousness from the Lord. She was born on November 9, 1928 to the late Oda Bowen and John F. Asby in Washington County, NC. She is preceded in death by her sisters Blanche A. Ainsley, Beatrice Asby, Marjorie Asby Spruill and Sue Hopkins; and brothers Aubrey W. Asby, Harold Asby, Floyd Asby and Ira Ward Asby. Marilyn graduated from Norfolk General School of Nursing in 1949. She held various nursing positions throughout her career and retired after 20 years as a Red Cross Blood Mobile Charge Nurse. She was a recipient of the Red Cross Tiffany Award for Employee Excellence. Marilyn was dedicated to serving others. She was a member of First Christian Church in Plymouth, NC. She is survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly and a host of friends and neighbors who were dear to her heart, as well as her surrogate daughter Sarah Houston Foley and son Paul Jones. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach VA. A Celebration of Life will also be held at 3:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior the same day at First Christian Church, 509 E Main St, Plymouth, NC 27962. A burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens. The family would like to express their gratitude to the loving staff of FamilyCare LLC for their wonderful care of Aunt BoBo.
