Mary Edith Hill

Mary Edith (Guynn) Hill, 91, passed away February 2, 2016 with her family at her bedside. Mrs. Hill was born in Norfolk County on December 10, 1924. Raised on the beach in Ocean View near 4th Street in a loving home she was proud of and spoke of as good times. Mary was a loving wife and mother of four sons whom she was also very proud of. She was a great mother and wife who always provided for her family with the best home cooked meals, especially her fried chicken, clean cloths, and a whoopin or two when needed. Her family was her world and she talked highly of her four boys, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to anyone she met. She will be missed by all.

She is survived by her brother, Robert M. Guynn (Geraldine); four sons, Bobby Hill (Terry), Charlie Hill (Tracy), Harold Hill (Karen) and Scott Hill (Kim); grandchildren, Becky Hill, Curtis Hill, Kevin Hill (Tatiana), Christopher Hill, Alexandria Hill (Chris), and Danielle Hill (Reade); great grandchildren Ruby and Levi. She is predeceased by her husband Robert “Spencer” Hill, parents Mary and Luther Guynn, two brothers, Luther Melvin Guynn, Jr. and Charles B. Guynn; and four sisters, Mildred Stevenson, Frances Glover, Lela Guynn, and Stella Lee Dozier.

Mary was a lifetime member of the Davis Corner Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary where she has served as President and Treasurer. She also volunteered 1,500 plus hours at Bayside Hospital in various clerical positions and in the gift shop. Most important she was a loving mother and wife who is now in heaven rejoicing with the Lord.

The family will receive friends at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home from 2 to 3 pm on Saturday, February 6, 2016, with the memorial service immediately following in the funeral home chapel. Reception details available at service.

Burial will be at 11 am on Sunday, February 7, 2016, at Rosewood Memorial Park.
