

Mary Alice Barber Queen, formally of Virginia Beach, died June 3, 2013 in Windsor, VA. Mary was born in Norfolk, VA, August 7, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Benjamin Irvin and Laura West Barber. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Mack C. Queen, daughter Patricia Louise Mastrolia, brother, Benjamin Irvin Barber, JR. and sister, Ann Flora Saunders.
She was a devoted life long member of Lafayette Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon and active in all aspects of the church’s endeavors. She loved her church and her Lord.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas and wife Katherine, Windsor, VA, Charles and wife Mary, Shenandoah, VA, sister Jean Gravely, Chesapeake, VA, and son in law Michael Mastrolia, High Point, NC.
Also left to cherish her memory are 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary, a loving wife, mother, sister, “Nanny”, aunt and friend was a homemaker who loved doing for others, her flowers and gardening. She always had a smile and a positive response. She was an active member of the Lakeview Park Homemakers Club, holding many offices, and cherished the friendships she made at the meetings.
The family gives loving thanks to her caregivers, whom Mary called her angels, Amy Reid, Sherri Ashburn, Shirley Boone, and Christy Hodges.
A Celebration of Mrs. Queens life will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2013, 1:30 p.m. at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA, where the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon to the service. Burial will follow in the Rosewood Cemetery.
