Born in Richmond, Virginia, Michael was the beloved son of Evelyn and Ralph Wade. He lived a life defined by service, strength, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends.
Michael proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he continued his commitment to protecting others through a distinguished career with the Virginia Beach Fire Department, where he retired as Battalion Chief. He also served FEMA, extending his dedication to helping communities during times of crisis. His leadership, courage, and steady presence left a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of serving alongside him.
Above all, Michael’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Schrank-Wade; his children, Michael Wade (Ashley and her daughter Olivia), Josette Goedert (Matthew), and Andrew Wade (Rebecca); and his cherished grandchildren, Caelin Wade, Mara Goedert, Anderson Wade, and Charlotte Wade. He is also survived by his cousin, Teresa Joyce (Joe).
Michael deeply valued friendship, and he shared a lifelong bond with his best friend, Jimmy Barnes (Tammy). Their friendship was one of loyalty, laughter, and countless shared memories that spanned decades.
Michael loved baseball, western movies, and—most of all—spending time with his children and grandchildren. Whether cheering from the sidelines, sharing stories, or simply enjoying time together, he treasured every moment with them.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, his sense of duty, his steadfast friendships, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he protected and in the hearts of those who loved him.
