Nancy Drumwright Bailey

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nancy Drumwright Bailey, who left this world on November 30, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on July 18, 1941, in Norfolk, Virginia, Nancy was the cherished daughter of Hazel and Alton Drumwright.

Nancy is preceded in death by her beloved brother, Ronald Drumwright, and is survived by her cherished daughters, Dana Jones (Shawn) and Jennifer Nelson, and her son, Charles Bailey. The lights of her life were her grandchildren, Dylan Cheek and Kenneth Nelson, who brought her immense joy and pride.

A graduate of Maury High School and Key Business College, she was a professional who devoted over 20 years to the Office of Faculty and Administrative Affairs at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS). Nancy was respected and admired by her colleagues.

Nancy had a multitude of interests that brought her happiness. She found great joy in her garden and in the company of her cats, and formed special bonds with her neighbors. As a devout Christian, her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and interactions with others.

In this time of grief, the family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to those who supported Nancy throughout her life. A special thank you to Teresa and Jeff, as well as Jack and Debbie, for their unwavering friendship and kindness. The staff at Commonwealth Senior Living also deserve recognition for their compassionate care and support during her final days. Nancy Drumwright Bailey will be missed tremendously. Her legacy of love, faith, and kindness will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace, embraced by the love of her family in heaven.

A private graveside service will be conducted on Monday, December 8th.
