Norma A. Russell

went home to be with her Lord on Friday, October 15, 2010. She was born September 11, 1926 to the late Ida H. and Albert M. Alexander in Traylee, West Virginia. She was predeceased by her husband, William B. Russell.

Norma leaves to cherish her memory, one son; William Russell and wife Teena of Wetumpka, AL; two daughters, Cindy Schander and husband Roger of Virginia Beach, VA; and Kimberly Granger and husband Gary of Virginia Beach, VA; four grandchildren, Jennifer Bregant, Shawn Bregant, Tabitha Cornett and Krysten Eiland; two great- grandchildren, Michael Cornett and Summer Eiland; and one brother, Billy Alexander of Richmond, Va.

Norma was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and was loved by all who knew her. She was also a member of Fairmount Park United Methodist Church, The Eastern Star: ODU Chapter 100. Before retiring from Old Dominion University, Norma worked in the School of Education Building for twenty-six years. Norma also received the HACE Staff Member of the Year Award from ODU.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living, Odyssey Hospice Care and Sentara Nursing Center-Sentara Way.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on October 18, 2010 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23462.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 19, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
