Phyllis Evoria Millington went home to glory April 27th, 2026, she was 78 years old. Born February 15, 1948, to Vinol L. and Ethel V. (McHarney) Keeling. Preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie E. Millington. She resided in Newport News, Virginia and went peacefully home with her only child by her side, Nicole V. (Millington) Holloway. She had a host of sisters and brothers. Residing in Chesapeake, Virginia Jessie Foster (Sister). Preceded in death Harrell G. Keeling, Glen Keeling (AKA Killer), Margaret and Mariane Sessoms. Her grandchildren: Chanel and Chambrell Millington and great grandchildren: London, Faith, Broadnex, Ajai, Kodie, Phoenix, April and Xavier. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Phyllis went to Portsmouth Catholic Elementary School and Graduated from I. C. Norcom High School. Phyllis Millington was the first black woman to model in Portsmouth, Virginia, for a Famous Department Store. She was a housewife for many years, then worked at the Newport News Shipyard as a welder. She decided to go to school and gained two degrees. One in nursing and became an LPN. As an LPN, she was a travel nurse along with doing private duty nursing for several clients. The other degree she earned in teaching, and she worked for the Norfolk Public School system educating kindergarten-2nd grade students. Her last completion before retiring was taking care of her mother-in-law and working for Walmart for 15 years in Wilmington, North Carolina. I considered my mom a genius to do crossword puzzles with an ink pen. Amen
