

Ray Lee Finley, loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother passed away on January 28, 2012. Ray was born in Gary, West Virginia on April 29, 1929 to Wiley & Lilly Finley. As a young man, he joined the Navy and served during the Korean War. Then, like his father and brothers, he worked as a coal miner in the hollows of West Virginia. Later, he came to Virginia Beach with his family and worked for Carolina Trailways until he retired. Ray loved the outdoors especially fishing and hunting and was extremely interested in WWII history and old, fast cars.
Survivors include his cherished wife of sixty-three years, Irene Marie Finley, his daughter, Michele Finley Davis and her husband Richard "Tom" Davis of Virginia Beach; his granddaughter, Tracey Bailey and great granddaughter, Hunter Nicole Myers of Virginia Beach; and two brothers, Rolly Finley of TN and Eugene Finley of NC. The family would like to give a special thanks to Beth Finley, Lori Carlsrtom, Joanna Huston, Vanessa Wright, Randy Zink and all the other friends and neighbors that have been so wonderfully supportive these past few years.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home where a celebration of Mr. Finley’s life will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2012, 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Princess Ann Memorial Park.
