Richard "Rick" Stephens Caldwell Sr. passed away at home on November 7, 2014. Rick was born March 4, 1938 in Nashville, TN to Lexie and Madelyn Caldwell. Rick met and married his wife Sandra in Groton, CT while stationed there. He served on numerous SS and SSN submarines and retired from the US Navy in 1978 as a Chief Petty Officer off the USS SILVERSIDES. Upon retirement from the military, he became a Civil Service employee continuing to support the US Navy as a rigger at Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek, VA. He retired from Civil Service in 1998. Rick had an extreme love of the outdoors. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, trips to Minnesota and Canada to enjoy in these activities. Rick was the best griller and his steaks were famous among family and friends. Rick is survived by his loving & devoted wife Sandra, children, Rick Caldwell and wife Lora, Karen Caldwell and fiancé Jamie, Cheryle Caldwell and husband David; grandchildren Eric, Lexie, Carley, Emily, Cameron and great-grandson, Owen. A memorial service will be held on Friday November 14th at 11:00 a.m. at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral and Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
