Robert was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa to John and Dorothy Dillard on July 19, 1955. He went to school in Ackley, Iowa. He married Betty Taylor Deaton, September 25, 1986 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Robert retired as a supervisor of 34 years for the City of Virginia Beach Public Works. He was a United States Navy Veteran.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy Dillard.
Robert is survived by his wife Betty Dillard; three sons, Jimmy (Amanda), Bryant (Megan) and Russ (Tonya); six grandsons and two granddaughters; nieces; nephews; two sisters, Sandy Roundtree (Ray) and Barbara McGehee(Mike); one brother, John Dillard; and a niece, Lisa of Eagle Grove, Iowa.

A visitation for Robert will be held Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
