Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished friend. He grew up in Massapequa, New York, and Virginia Beach, Virginia. As a young man, Bob had a love for music and played the saxophone in various bands, including the Pop Tops.
After graduating from Campbell College, Bob was drafted into the United States Army, where he proudly served his country. In 1970, he married the love of his life, Iris. Together they built a beautiful life and raised three children.
Bob dedicated 30 years of service to the City of Virginia Beach, where he became the city’s first Risk Manager. Bob served as president of the Risk and Insurance Management Society from 1991 to 1992. Following his time with the city, he continued his professional career as a Vice President of Berkley Risk Administrators Company, LLC, where he oversaw the State’s Self-Insurers Risk Retention Group program.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Iris; his children, Brent, Karen (and her husband, Bill), and Kathy; his grandchildren, Kylene and Jakob; his great-grandson, Kane; and his brother, Art.
