

Born on February 27, 1933, in Lyndonville, New York, Bob was the son of the late Floyd L. and Nellie E. (Harris) Foss. Raised in a farming family with deep roots in Orleans County, he spent his early years in Lyndonville, where he built a life centered on family, service, and community.
Bob and his beloved wife, Marcia, raised their three children in Lyndonville before later relocating to Virginia Beach.
A man dedicated to serving others, Bob spent many years as a police officer and volunteer firefighter, proudly serving the Village of Lyndonville and Orleans County. Following his career in law enforcement, he worked as a tractor-trailer driver for Crosby-Whipple Texaco in Lyndonville and later for Operation Blessing. His work delivering humanitarian aid was among his proudest accomplishments and reflected his lifelong commitment to helping those in need.
Above all else, Bob was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and cherished great-grandfather. He treasured time spent with family and created countless memories that will be carried forward by those who loved him. Known for his generous heart and willingness to help others, he often placed the needs of others before his own. A proud Western New Yorker at heart, Bob was also a lifelong fan of the Buffalo Bills, faithfully cheering them on through every season and sharing that enthusiasm with family and friends over the years.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Marcia (Draffin) Foss; his daughter, Deborah (Foss) Puckett; and his siblings, Joan (Foss) Baker, Charles Foss, and Esther (Foss) Baker.
He is survived by his daughter, Tamara "Tammy" Toma and her husband, Robert; his son, William "Bill" Foss Sr. and his wife, Susan; and his son-in-law, Steven Puckett.
He also leaves behind six grandchildren: Douglas White (Sylvia), Rebecca Davis, William Foss Jr. (Rachael), Brandon Foss (Rachel), Analisa Puzzanghero (Christopher), and Isabella Toma-Palmieri (Nicholas).
In addition, he is survived by eight great-grandchildren: Jacob White, Holly White, Jackson Davis, Deacon Davis, Lola Davis, Ava Foss, William “Liam” Foss III, and Payton Foss.
Bob's life was defined by service, kindness, hard work, and love for his family. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and the family he cherished.
Bob’s Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462 from 5pm - 8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
