Rudy was born on July 22, 1940 in Nueva Ecija, Philippines to Pablo and Zoila Mariano. He was a 22-year veteran in the US Navy and also a retiree of the US Postal Service after 18 years. He was a devoted husband and father, but the title he cherished most was "Grandpa".
He was a jack of all trades, and was a resource for many on how to fix almost anything. He enjoyed line dancing, cooking and tending to his lawn and garden. He loved nothing more than to relax on his deck, surrounded by his family and friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Angelina: his sons, Roderick and Robert (Hazel); his grandchildren Noah, Ava, Kendall, Arden and Cameron; and his siblings Lourdes Cadorna, Maxima dela Cruz, Lazaro Mariano, Aquilino Mariano and Josefina Pangilinan; along with a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Enrique, Mario, and Dalmacio, and his sister Marieta.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm on Thursday, August 29th at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home on Witchduck Rd., with a wake beginning promptly at 6pm.
A Requiem Mass will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Virginia Beach on Friday, August 30th at 10am, with interment to follow at Rosewood Kellum Memorial Park.
