Sammy “Pa” O’Neal Butler, 81, passed away on December 22, 2023. He was born in Jasper, Alabama to the late Fred and Irene Butler. He is predeceased by the love of his life of 40 years, Louise; and his siblings, Howard, James, Bobbie Lou, and Gladys.
Pa retired from the U.S. Navy and Civil Service. He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating and interacting with friends and neighbors.
Left to cherish his memory are three children, Kris Smiley (David), Gary Daughety (Vonnie), and Michelle Watson; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Ashley; and four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Rosewood Memorial Park. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff in the Blue Unit at Beth Shalom of Virginia Beach.
