Samuel K. Black, 69, went to be with the Lord on April 1, 2017, surrounded by friends and family. He proudly served his country for 30 years in the U.S. Navy, including tours in Vietnam on the USS Seminole and Desert Storm, retiring in 2001 as a Lieutenant Commander LDO.
Sam is preceded in death by his parents, William and Easter Black; his son, James Black; and his sister, Janet Araiza.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 16 years, Shirley Black; his daughter, Laura Tomon and her husband, Josh; his grandson, Peyton Urquhart; his brothers, Bill, Dale and John Black; his sister, Nina Foti; his niece, Jeschelle Blais and her family; nephew, William Araiza and his family; a multitude of nieces and nephews and dear friends; and his beloved dog, Heidi.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm on Monday, April 10, 2017 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd in VA Beach.
