

She was born on July 20, 1925 to the late Grover Whidden Sr. and Ruth Swindell Whidden in Tampa, Florida. Mrs. Blume was a charter member of Bayside Baptist Church and served as their first pianist. She later became the organist and served in that capacity for more than 30 years. After her years as the church organist, she was the accompanist for the Bayside Baptist Church Preschool. Mrs. Blume had a passion for music that she shared with many students as she taught them piano. She was a member of the Young Sunday School Class and helped organize the Bayside Saints who musically entertained audiences throughout the area. Mrs. Blume was also a member of the PEP Club at Bayside and a member of NARFE.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Lonnie W. Blume; parents; and brothers, Grover Whidden Jr. and Justis Whidden.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Randy W. Blume and wife Mary Ellen of Syracuse, NY, Madeline Blume Dunstan and husband Patrick, Karen Blume Daniels, and Douglas L. Blume; grandchildren, Kristie Blume, Shannon Kesselring and husband Daniel, Cpt. Sean Dunstan, USA, Allan Daniels, Tyler Daniels and wife Mindy, A1C Mark Daniels, USAF and wife Erin, and Bay Blume; and great-grandchildren, Skylar Daniels, Ethan, Foster, Graham, Brody, and Finnegan Kesselring.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2011 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. A service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Bayside Baptist Church, 1920 Pleasure House Rd., Virginia Beach, VA, officiated by the Rev. Mark Pullen. Burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family welcomes flowers or memorial donations to the M.E. Cox Center for Elder Day Care.
