Shirley Deal Cooke passed on August 22, 2026. She was born on September 15, 1937 to the late Melvin E. Deal, Sr. and Maisie L. Deal in Chesapeake, Virginia. She is predeceased by her brothers, Melvoin E. Deal, Jr. and Walter Deal.
Shirley worked as a secretary for the railroad and then a long-time co-owner of Deals Grocery and Kennels.
She is survived by her son, Michael D. Cooke, and his wife Lisa; grandson, Kevin Cooke, and his wife Courtney; four great grandchildren, Evilynn, Ian, Maisie and Cordelia; and brother, Morris Lee Deal.
A visitation will be held at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462, US, on August 28, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
A committal service will take place at Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 N Witchduck Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23462, US, on August 28, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
