Sofia Estrellado Macaraeg

Virginia Beach - Sofia Estrellado Macaraeg passed away July 31, 2013. She was born in Luisiana Laguna, Philippines, one of eight children, the daughter of the late Pascual and Josefa Estrellado. Sofia graduated from Centro Escolar University with a degree in dentistry. She met and married the love of her life Pedro T. Macaraeg. She left her dental practice and moved to the United States in 1962, where they raised their five children. Sofia was a devoted wife and mother, who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She and her husband retired in Virginia Beach, where they were longtime parishioners of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. Sofia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 60 years, Pedro T. Macaraeg; daughters, Marife Leoncio and her husband Jose; Cecilia Moor and her husband Albert II; Grace Bernardo and her husband Jondi; and Noelle Price and her husband Kevin; son, Mark Macaraeg; five grandchildren, Joey, Rosalina, Alex, Colin, and Connor.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, Aug. 5, 2013 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church with burial to follow in Rosewood Memorial Park.
