Sonja was the youngest daughter and the last surviving child of Benjamin Harrison Stanley and Pheba Elizabeth Stanley (Hill). She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, five brothers, and her husband of 33 years, W. L. “John” Sheeley, in 1991.
She was a longtime member of Haygood United Methodist Church and the Elizabeth Fairbanks United Methodist Women’s Circle. She enjoyed staying active and was going to the gym long before it was fashionable. She made many lasting friendships at both. She was a resident of Lake Smith Terrace for over 55 years and took great pride in her home and yard.
Sonja is survived by her son, Randall Sheeley (Ann); daughter, Theresa Reece (Bob); granddaughter, Kendall Weishample (Joey); great-granddaughters, Lily and Poppy Weishample; stepdaughter, Janice Rogowski; step-grandsons, Robert Reece (Adrienne) and William Reece (Tarina); and eight step-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered for her strength, independence, faith, and love of family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
