Spencer A. “Bill” Russell, Jr., 82, peacefully went to be with the Lord on December 1, 2010. He was born on December 12, 1927 in Greensboro, North Carolina, the son of the late Spencer A. and Nell Russell. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. Bill was the owner of the Squires After Hours Club and a member of the Virginia Bar and Restaurant Association, the US Golf Association, the AMF Bowling League and the American Legion; an avid pool player, boater and early NASCAR driver. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan King Russell, his beloved wife of 31 years, Peggy Russell; brother, David and sisters, Hope and Bobby.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted children, Cynthia, Michael, Linda, and Adam Russell; his loving nephew, Gene Russell; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 4, 2010 in Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Road in Virginia Beach from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at 2:00 PM in Rosewood Memorial Park, Chapel of Serenity. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Home, www.stjudes.org.
