Thelma A. Talley

Norfolk – Thelma Ashbee Talley, 85, was called home to heaven on December 26, 2010. Born on Chincoteague Island in the home of her grandparents and raised in Norfolk. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome L. Talley Jr.; parents, Charles and Nellie Ashbee; brothers, Samuel and Robert Ashbee; and sister, Nellie Jarvis. Thelma retired from Virginia DMV and was a member of the Colonial Heights Church of Christ. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Susan Talley and Martha Kitchen (Steve); son, Jerry Talley (Diane), grandchildren, Nathan Kitchen (April) and Jaclyn Talley; and great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Benjamin, and Jesse; beloved sister, Mary Pittman; sister-in-law, Anna Ashbee; and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Chesapeake Regional Home Care Services, especially Peggy Westner, Susan Adams, Betty “Boop” Howard, and Rev. Evelyn L. Lee.

A graveside service will be conducted at Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach, VA, at 1:00 p.m., Monday, Jan. 3, 2011.

After the service a reception for the family will be held at Colonial Heights Church of Christ in Norfolk. Memorial donations may be made to Colonial Heights Church of Christ at 833 Marvin Ave. Norfolk, VA, 23518 or to the American Cancer Society.
