Timothy "Tim" Page Dunn, aged 62 of Glen Burnie, MD. unexpectedly made his way home to Heaven on Thursday, May 11th. Born July 29, 1960, Tim grew up in Virginia Beach and was a 1978 graduate of Kempsville High School. Throughout his life, his mother's encouragement and steadfastness pushed him to always seek out further learning opportunities. Much like his mother, Tim was always a man of faith. He had a strong belief in Christ, that carried him through much of his life, so far as to even undertake a mission trip, early in his family's youth.
As a teenager, Tim worked as an apprentice for his father his business, Dunn Plastering Co., where he learned the skills and a knack for working with his hands. He pursued his Associate's Degree from Thomas Nelson Community College, where he gained the professional structural engineering skills that would eventually lead him towards a career in project management, working in large-scale curtain wall and glass construction. This career took him all over Virginia, Maryland, and the New England area.
Louis Douglas “Doug” Dunn, aged 60, passed away peacefully surrounded by love on Tuesday, June 6th after a lengthy battle with heart disease. Born July 7th, 1963, Doug spent most of his life in the Virginia Beach area entertaining crowds of tourists and locals alike. Doug was also extremely proud to be a Senior Warden of the Kempsville Chapter of the Fraternal Order of the FreeMasons.
Beginning at a very young age, music was always Doug’s number one love. From piano lessons as a young boy, to playing the saxophone in junior high, to leading the Kempsville Marching Chiefs as their Drum Major, Doug knew music would always be where his heart would belong. Doug was self-taught on numerous instruments, and had a knack for making people smile from on-stage. As lead singer for his original One Too Many Band, Doug and the band toured up and down the eastern seaboard, playing at several Jimmy Buffet and Parrothead festivals and shows. In the later decades of his music, Doug switched to Country Rock and recorded his second CD with his Steel River Band. While his tenure playing music spanned his entire life, Doug’s last years were spent alongside his one and only duo partner, Mike Doyle, as part of Doyle & Dunn.
Tim and Doug both had an uncanny ability to make anyone feel like family, and their doors were always open to those in need. And while they often struggled with showing it, their children were the pride of their lives. They were preceded in death by their parents, Louis Page Dunn, III and Elaine Hodges Dunn, as well as a still-born brother, Thomas Graig Dunn. Both brothers are survived by their children; Kelsey Page Dunn of Jaffrey, NH; Timothy Page Dunn, II of Virginia Beach; Erin Dunn Adey of Nashua, NH; Courtney Anne Dunn of Fairfax, VA; and Robin Kelsey-Dunn Monfee (non-biological) of Fayetteville, NC; their three aunts, numerous cousins, and grandchildren.
The Family will be hosting a Celebration of Life for Tim & Doug on Friday, July 28th at 3:00 PM at Rosewood Kellum Memorial Funeral home, located at 601 N. Witchduck Rd. Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Following the service, there will be a reception at the Kempsville Masonic Lodge.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.kellumfuneralhome.com for the Dunn family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Tim to the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
