With hearts full of both sorrow and gratitude, we celebrate the beautiful life of Trish Terry, who passed away on June 24th 2026 at the age of 62. Surrounded by the love of her family and sustained by her steadfast faith, she entered into the presence of the Lord, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and grace.
She is survived by her husband, Mitchell Terry Sr.; her daughter Courtney Zydron and son-in-law Adam Zydron; her son Mitchell Terry Jr. and daughter-in-law Alysha Terry; her son Colton Terry; and her daughter Kelsey Terry-Sharpe and son-in-law Coleman Sharpe. She is also survived by her six loving grandchildren — Bennet Zydron, Easton Zydron, Evelyn Zydron, Harper Terry, Mitchell “Taylor” Terry III, and James Sharpe — along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Cornelius Albert Ballentine Jr.; her mother, Veronica Zydron Ballentine; and her niece, Kim Ballentine Lindstrom.
Born December 10, 1963 in Virginia, Trish lived a life marked by compassion, wisdom, and a joyful spirit. She possessed a quick wit and a sharp mind, often bringing laughter and thoughtful conversation to those around her. Her kindness was genuine and abundant, and she had a remarkable gift for making others feel seen, valued, and loved.
Trish grew up in the community of Sunray in Chesapeake, Virginia with her brother and sister. As a kid she spent Sundays attending Saint Mary’s Catholic Church and spent her childhood surrounded by cousins and other family members. In her youth, she was a proud Girl Scout, where she first learned the values of service, kindness, and self-reliance that would stay with her all her life.
A proud graduate of Western Branch High School, Class of 1982, she went on to attend Old Dominion University. She began her career at Phillips Automotive in 1987, and over 25 years she worked her way up through many roles to become Chief Operating Officer — one of the company's top leadership positions — serving until the company was sold. She later became co-owner of Home Modernization Center, which she ran alongside her beloved husband.
In 1991, a blind double date led Trish to meet the love of her life, Mitchell Terry, Sr. They married on August 15th, 1992, at First United Methodist Church in Norfolk, Virginia. Throughout their 33 years of marriage they built a beautiful family of 4 children, built a second home in Lake Gaston, North Carolina, and a lifetime of memories — often made over a shared love of cards.
Above all, Trish was a woman of deep faith. Her trust in God guided her throughout her life and shaped the way she loved and cared for others. She found strength in prayer, comfort in Scripture, and joy in sharing her faith through both words and actions. Her example was one of quiet humility, generosity, and unwavering devotion.
She treasured her role as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, and nothing brought her greater happiness than time spent with those she loved. Whether through a thoughtful conversation, a word of encouragement, or the simple gift of her presence, she made everyone around her feel at home.
She enjoyed cooking and entertaining for others; navigating the local thrift and antique stores to find small treasures; and listening to her favorite true crime podcast. She loved to watch her kids and grand kids from her spot on the boat as they learned to ski, knee board, and wakeboard. She found happiness in the everyday blessings of life. Her warmth, intelligence, humor, and independent spirit will be remembered always.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life at Spring Branch Community Church on June 30th at 12:30 pm. Together, we will honor a woman whose love and faith enriched so many lives.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Johns Hopkins, Virginia Oncology, and Sentara Leigh Hospital for their compassionate care and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spring Branch Community Church
Though she is no longer with us on earth, her love remains with us always. We take comfort in the promise of eternal life and rejoice in knowing that she has heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
