

Wallace Lee Alvis passed away Nov. 22, 2014. He was born in Richmond, VA on May 26, 1929. He was the son of Robert Lee and Margaret Redford Alvis. He was preceded in death by his sisters, June Alvis Butts, Greensboro, NC and Dolores, Harris Littleton, CO. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Grace Foster of 67 years; daughter, Diane Alvis Williams and husband George of Virginia Beach , VA; son, Gary Foster Alvis and wife Patricia King-Alvis of Portsmouth, VA; four grandchildren, Kevin Williams and wife Victoria of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Brian Williams of Virginia Beach, VA, Jaime Alvis and fiancé Matthew Cook of Washington, DC, Kelly Alvis Bisogno and husband Michael of Richmond, VA; five great-grandchildren, Elijah Bisogno, Evelyn Grace Bisogno, Samanta Addison Williams, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Williams, and Bradley Thomas Williams; and five nieces and nephews, David Harris, Dana Monroe, Robert Harris, Alyson Cranford, and John Butts.
He retired from the American Tobacco Company as Plant Superintendent after 35 years. He served his Country in the US Navy for 3 ½ years. He was a long time member of Virginia Heights Baptist Church, serving as Deacon and on the Properties Committee for all those years. Wallace was a man of many talents and spent his retirement years serving his church, friends, neighbors, and his family. He was a member of Lake Taylor civic League and served as Crime Watch Coordinator in the neighborhood. He well known and respected by everyone.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 2PM at Virginia Heights Baptist Church, 1251 Kempsville Rd., Norfolk VA. The family will receive guests from 12-2PM at the church. Burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Virginia Heights Baptist Church, 1251 Kempsville Rd., Norfolk VA.
