

Wally was born in Straight Creek, KY January 24, 1926. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy with 33 years of service. He was a member of the VFW in Somerset Ky and was given a Commission of Kentucky Colonel by the Commonwealth of Kentucky for his many Civic duties after retiring there. He was a strong supporter and active member of the Boy Scouts of America.
He was predeceased by his wife Jeannie Longmire, and is survived by his son, Gary Longmire and wife Kathy of Virginia Beach, Two grandchildren Kimberly King of Goldsboro NC, and Michael Stoop of Richmond VA, and two Great grandchildren Alex & Brianna, one brother Bill Longmire and his wife Ruth Anne, Sisters Rose Wilson, Corrine Harlin and her husband Jack.
Wally will be remembered for his love of singing and playing the guitar, restoring old cars, working in the yard and garden, and the many hours spent researching the genealogy of the family.
Wally's Family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Clair Bridge of Virginia Estates, and Odyssey Hospice for the loving care given during Wally's final months. All of you are truly angels that walk among us.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013, 9:00 a.m. at Rosewood Memorial Park with full military honors.
