Wanda Starr Prazeres, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021. She was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and then lived in Philadelphia and Lemoyne, where she graduated from West Shore High School. After moving to Norfolk, Virginia, Wanda earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Early Elementary Education, graduating magna cum laude from Old Dominion University. After graduation, Wanda embarked on her dream career as a first-grade teacher at Coleman Place Elementary School in Norfolk, where she spent 24 years enriching her students' hearts and minds.
In July, 1981, Wanda married the love of her life, Buddy Prazeres. They shared over forty years of love, laughter, cherishing and caring for each other.
Wanda was predeceased by her parents, John and Mary Louise (Saurman) Starr. She is survived by her husband, Buddy Prazeres, brother John Starr, daughters Cherrie DeRentis (Rocco) and Mari Mann (Rod), grandchildren Ricky Williams (Kelly) and Eliza DeRentis, and great-grandchildren Kensie and Emmy.
The funeral service will be held at Rosewood Memorial Park in Virginia Beach on Friday, November 26, 2021 at 1:00pm. There will be no public viewing.
