Mr. Simmons retired from the Naval Supply Center as a foreman after many years of service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by those that knew him and his cronies from Bojangles on Northampton Blvd.
Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Simmons and Norine Cherry Simmons and his wife, Myrtle B. Simmons.
Survivors include his daughter, Bonnie Kightlinger and husband, Robert of Virginia Beach, VA; a grandson, David Johnson and wife, Katie of Northern, VA; a nephew, Bill Simmons and wife, Maryann and a niece, Lois Allan all of Virginia Beach.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kellum Funeral Home where a celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
