Barbara A. Chaghlil

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Barbara (Maine) Burgess.

Barbara was the devoted mother of Jennifer Petrarca, Richard C. Johnson, Randy M. Johnson, and April E. Hines; the cherished grandmother of Cameron Johnson, Austin Hines, and Michael Petrarca III; and the loving sister of Maureen Pierce, Kathleen Manocchio, Deborah Fischer, and John Burgess.

Throughout her life, Barbara was a caregiver in every sense of the word. She had a natural ability to connect with and comfort the elderly, turning her compassion into a meaningful career. She was also well known as a beloved waitress at the Miss Cranston Diner for many years, where her warm personality, goofiness, and wonderful sense of humor made her a favorite among customers and coworkers alike. She loved making people laugh.

Barbara was an excellent cook, especially treasured during the holidays for her delicious meals. She worked tirelessly throughout her life to raise and support her four children. She had a deep love for dogs and leaves behind her beloved, Abby and Sona. Barbara also enjoyed horseback riding, a passion she shared with her sister during visits to Florida.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Thursday, January 29, from 10:00–11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, West Warwick.
