

Born in Queens, NY, in the summer of 1940, Dean was the son of the late Henry and Dorothy (Heffernan) Holt.
Besides his dear wife, Dean is survived by his daughter, Gabrielle Liquorie and her husband Paul, of Potomac, MD, his sons, Jason M. Holt and his wife Susan of North Providence, RI, and Christopher Puleo and his wife Nancy of Sleepy Hollow, NY, his brother Roddy Holt and Kathy of Seaford, NY, 10 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Col. Guy Holt, USAF.
Upon graduation with a B.S. in Financial Management from The New York University School of Commerce, Dean began his long and successful career in banking. His first assignment was as the Assistant Secretary with Chemical Bank. Dean was employed by Fleet Bank for over 30 years, where he held many positions, retiring in 2002 as Chairman, President and CEO. Dean served as the President, CEO, and Director of Domestic Bank, retiring in 2010 and then as the CEO of Home Loan and Investment Bank, retiring in 2012.
Dean had a generous spirit, serving his community as a member of the Board of Directors of the Providence Chamber of Commerce, the United Way, the Rhode Island Philharmonic, the Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council, the Board of Trustees of Butler Hospital, the Providence Performing Arts Center, the Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America, Narragansett Council, and as Chair of the 1986 American Cancer Society Ball.
Dean was a true Renaissance man. His interests included collecting fountain pens, reading spy novels, a good round of golf, sketching and photography.
Visitation Saturday, April 2, from 3 – 7pm at the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Rd. Warwick. Burial will be private.
