

Dorothy Jane Dunphy, age 80, of North Kingstown, R.I. passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025 with her family by her side at Hope Hospice in Providence. She was the beloved wife of 47 years to the late L. Raymond Dunphy.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late James Earl and Violet ( LaPorte ) Quirk, Sr.
Mrs. Dunphy had a 32 year career with the various phone companies in New England retiring from NYNEX in 1992.
Dorothy was an avid cook, gardener, and local sports fan. She especially loved the Boston Red Sox. She was an advocate for the homeless and would volunteer her time and resources helping at shelters and organizing coat drives.
Mrs. Dunphy is survived by her children, Edward J. Dunphy and his wife Lisa, Linda Lake and her husband Dennis, Susan Carlson and her husband Clifford, her beloved grandchildren, Shane Dunphy and his wife Mary Screen, Mackenzie Kuhar and her husband Dr. Benjamin Kuhar, Bailey Snipes and her husband Matthew, Shonna Carlson and her husband Jacob Faria, Jenna Carlson and Evan Carlson. She also leaves her cherished great grandchildren, Killian Jude Snipes, Leo Frederick Faria and Camryn Elise Kuhar.
She is survived by her siblings Eleanor Byrne, Bernice Gallagher, Joan Selwyn, and Robert Quirk, Sr.
She was the sister of the late James Quirk, Raymond Quirk, John Quirk, and Edward Quirk, Marie Jennings, Carol Sova, Norma Grossi and Marian Gormley.
Funeral will be held Thursday, June 19, 2025 at 8:45 am from the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00am in St. Francis de Sales Church, 381 School Street, North Kingstown. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are Wednesday, 4:00-7:00 pm.
