Born in Providence, RI, Gayle was the daughter of the late James H. Kershaw and Margaret (Galvin) Kershaw. She was the beloved wife of Leo E. Maynard, with whom she shared 64 beautiful years of marriage.
Gayle was a strong and resilient woman with a big personality and a gift for making friends wherever she went. She had a way of making people feel welcome, and many of the friendships she formed became like family. Throughout her many health challenges, Gayle rarely complained and continued to show the strength and spirit that made her so special.
Gayle loved music, especially Elton John, and she and Leo enjoyed attending his concerts together over the years. She loved going on vacations and spending time with her family. She also loved her coffee, especially from The Coffee Bar, where she made many lasting friendships.
Along with her husband, Gayle is survived by her loving children, Stephen Maynard; Michele Barber and her husband, Thomas; and Nicole Cote and her husband, Todd. She also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren: Ashley Barbosa and her husband, Jordan; Matthew Cote and his fiancée, Jordyn; Christopher Barber and his wife, Nicole; and Devin Barber.
Gayle’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated caregivers at Alpine Nursing Home for their care and compassion. Gayle will be remembered for her humor, strength, and the many friendships she made throughout her life. She leaves behind a lasting impact on all who knew her and will be deeply missed.
Per the family’s wishes, all services and burial will be private.
