Born in Warwick, Gerald was the son of the late Edward and Marguerite (Martin) Griffin. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, a time of service he carried with honor throughout his life.
Gerald devoted his career to working as an electrician and was a proud, long-term member of IBEW Local Union 99 for 75 years. His strong work ethic, dedication to his trade, and loyalty to his union were sources of great pride for him.
Gerald especially cherished summers at the beach, where he created lasting memories camping by the shore with his family. Those simple pleasures, sun, sea air, and togetherness were among his happiest moments.
Gerald was the father of Elizabeth “Betty” Moffat, with whom he resided, Mark Griffin of Coventry, Joanne Botts of Warwick, James Griffin of Warwick, and Kathryn Brown of Warwick. He was a loving grandfather and great-grandfather to several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his children Gerald Griffin, Jr., Sheila G. Stewart, Kevin P. Griffin, and Elizabeth A. Griffin; his brothers George and Edward Griffin; his grandson Shane P. Moffat; and his former wife of 48 years, Anne Griffin.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Thursday April 9, 2026 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 9:30 a.m. in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Rd, Warwick. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the RI Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
Gerald will be remembered for his quiet strength and a life well lived.
