

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late William and Constance (Boucher) Adams. He was the brother of the late Joan Adams, Doras Adams Tomlinson, William Adams, Ellen Adams Mello, and Mark Adams; and uncle of the late Joseph “Joey” Mello.
Jim proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was a carpenter having worked for the Laborers Union and as an independent contractor. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, hiking and fishing, and loved to spend time with his friends making music. Jim was spiritual and was always seeking knowledge, as he loved to learn new things every day.
Jim is survived by his son, Charlie Apple and daughter-in-law Daphne Sweet; nieces Lauren Bray, Dyan Tomlinson, Michelle Tomlinson, Teresa McMillan, Kristen Goodwin and Dawn Mello; and nephews William “Billy” Mello and James “Jimmy” Mello. He also leaves many great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews; and his close friends, George Leonard, Rose Hannar and Sylvania Brandao.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 1st from 9:30-11:00 a.m. followed by his funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick. Burial with military honors will follow in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
