

John James Fox, 90, of Cranston passed away peacefully at home on April 30th, 2025. He had just celebrated his 64th wedding anniversary with his beloved wife Maureen (Barry). Born in Coragh, Co. Leitrim, Ireland, he was the son of the late Michael and Margaret (Dolan) Fox.
John was a devout Catholic, with a particular love of the Rosary, which he prayed with his siblings, wife and children, and fellow daily mass parishioners at St. Mark’s Church in Cranston, throughout his life. He was a founding member and past President of the Irish Ceilidhe Club of RI, where he played cards and enjoyed craic with his fellow Irish. John was a proud union carpenter who enjoyed a good song, joke or story. He regaled his grandchildren with all his sayings.
John was a beloved father and Papa, who in addition to his wife, is survived by five children, Barbara of Arlington, MA, Ellen (Jeff) Davis of College Park, MD, Michael (Celeste) of Arnold, MD, John (Eileen) of Needham, MA, and Peter (Carla) of Canton, MA, 14 grandchildren, and his sister Josephine O’Reilly of England, as well as friends and family in Ireland, England, Canada, and the US. He was predeceased by his siblings Mary Anne Kearney, Susan King, Francis Fox, Kathleen Conway, Margaret Theresa Casey, Rose Igoe, and Bridget Finnie.
His funeral will be held on Monday, May 5th, at 8:45 a.m., from the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Rd, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., in St Mark Church, 31 Poplar Drive, Cranston. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. Calling hours are Sunday, 5:00-7:00 p.m.
