

Born in Pawtucket, RI, he was the son of the late Cecil and Ethel (Neary) Gillissie. Kenneth proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force and Army before beginning a long and dedicated career with the State of Rhode Island. He worked as a Correctional Officer for 31 years, retiring in 2004. Throughout his career, he was known for his professionalism, dedication, and camaraderie with his fellow officers.
He was a proud member of the Brotherhood of Correctional Officers and the Civil Air Patrol of West Warwick, RI.
Kenneth leaves his son, Kenneth E. Gillissie and his wife Kelly of Cranston; his daughter, Melissa B. “Missy” Northup and her husband Thomas of Warwick and Alyson Cyr and her husband Daniel of Southington, CT, Stephen Gillissie and his wife Jennifer of Jamestown, RI and Evan Gillissie of Washington DC. His adoring great grandson, Myles Cyr. Kenneth is predeceased by his brother, Michael G. Gillissie.
Kenneth will be remembered for his integrity, kindness, and steadfast commitment to his family, community, and country. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Funeral will be Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 8:45 am in the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick, RI. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 am in St. Paul Church, 30 Warwick Avenue, Cranston. Burial with full military honors will be in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI. Visitation is Wednesday, October 22, 2025 from 4:00-7:00 pm.
