Born and raised in Pawtucket, RI, Kris was the daughter of the late Owen C. and Viola (Testa) Kelleher. She was the devoted wife of the late Edmund “Ted” Fuller, with whom she shared many joyful years until his passing in 2021.
Kris was a philanthropist whose life was defined by service. After earning her teaching degree from Rhode Island College, she began her career as a special education teacher in the Dighton-Rehoboth school system. Her compassion extended far beyond the classroom. She prepared meals for the homeless, volunteered at the local animal rescue league, cleaned her parish church, and sponsored children in developing countries. Her generosity was quiet, steady, and unwavering.
Kris inspired her husband Ted, of Gregg’s Restaurants, to embrace philanthropy as well. Together they founded the Gregg’s Giving Tree Fund, a beloved holiday tradition that provides Christmas gifts to children, seniors, and Rhode Islanders in need. The Giving Tree Fund continues today, touching thousands of lives each year. The Fullers were also loyal benefactors of Hasbro Children’s Hospital and The Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation, raising funds through Gregg’s “Giving Cake” program.
Kris lived a life filled with adventure and curiosity. She loved to travel, often exploring the world with Ted by plane or boat. She earned her pilot’s license and even sailed to the Caribbean and back, accomplishments that reflected her courage and zest for life.
At home, Kris was a gifted cook, gracious hostess, and talented interior designer. She took great pride in creating warm, beautiful spaces and was known for her elaborate meals and effortless hospitality. She helped develop Gregg’s famous dessert menu, a contribution appreciated by dessert lovers across Rhode Island. Kris and Ted divided their time between Pawtuxet Village, Warwick, and North Palm Beach, Florida, forming deep community ties in each place.
Kris is survived by her siblings: Ann Spagnolo and her husband, John, of North Palm Beach, FL; Peter Kelleher and his wife, Marie, of Uxbridge, MA; and Karleen Swanlund and her husband, Mark, of Stevensville, MD. She was a beloved aunt to her nieces Kirsten, Allison, Kelly, Sara, Brittany, Jen and her nephew William.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, August 13th, at 10:00 AM at St. Peter’s Church, 350 Fair Street, Warwick, RI. Burial will be private.
Kris will be remembered as a kind, caring soul who built community through empathy, generosity, and friendship. She was supported throughout her illness by her family and dedicated care managers (Pat and Kelly), caregivers, and dear friends who remained faithfully by her side.
