Born on September 2, 1936 in New York. Mae was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She lived her life with love, faith, laughter, and a devotion to all.
Mae was preceded in death by her husband Gerard (Jerry) Caruso and her son Michael Caruso. Mae leaves behind her children Christine Sirois (John) and Joanne Caruso. Mae also leaves her grandchildren, Michael Caruso, Matthew Sirois, Zachary & Jessica Caruso.
Mae loved her nieces and nephews with all her heart and never missed celebrating a birthday or special occasion. Her nephew Jeff and Moira Caruso cared for Mae and she loved them as they were her children.
Mae lived her life with a passion for education. She was a graduate of St. John's University and taught 1st grade at Widsom Lane Elementary. To this day Mae kept in touch with her student, Manny.
Mae married the love of her life, Jerry in 1960 and lived in Island Park, New York.
Family was paramount to Mae and celebrating holidays with Grandma Esther's meatballs.
Mae's parents Al & Margaret Lodato and her sisters Margaret Lodato, Lillian Marzulli (Nick) and Miriam Feahilly pre-deceased her. Mae was proudly raised Italian and loved her inherited family, Frank & Grace Caruso, Maria & Pat Carrano, Eleanor Caruso, Edward & Marge Caruso, Gene & Susan Caruso, and John & Sandra Caruso.
Mae and Jerry moved to Rhode Island in 1970 and Mae quickly built friends through St. Gregory the Great Church. Mae often hosted parties for the neighborhood much to Jerry's protest.
Mae will be remembered as a woman of incredible strength, faith, and selflessness for all that she encountered. Mae loved playing the piano for all her visitors, enjoyed a martini with her friend Judy and a day at Bonnet Shores with Barbara was their heaven on earth.
Mae was an avid Red Sox fan and routed for them regardless of how they played. Mae never wanted the party to end. She proudly loved the details and supporting family and friends with anything they pursued. Mae will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
Our family is grateful for the care she received from Amanda and the entire hospice staff.
