Mary Josephine Kirk

Mary Josephine (Hughes) Kirk, 99, formerly of Naples, Florida and Cranston, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully March 11, 2023, just two months before her 100th birthday. She joins her husband, Warren R. Kirk, to whom she was happily married for 67 years and with whom she built a beautiful family.

Mary Jo was born in Providence, R.I. She was a daughter of the late Thomas and Delia (Hanley) Hughes. She was the loving mother of Karen Kirk Piccoli, Donna Barba Lalli, and the late W. Russell Kirk Jr.; devoted grandmother of Jeffrey P. Piccoli Jr., Stacy K. Mullaney, Ryan C. Barba, Susan K. D’Entremont, Kaitlyn Barba Clifford, and Cory P. Kirk. She was also the great-grandmother of eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters and one brother.

Mary Jo was formerly a member of the Glen Eagle Country Club (Naples, Florida) and Potowomut Golf Club (East Greenwich, R.I.) and enjoyed playing golf. She was also an excellent card and bridge player. Intelligent, elegant, and outgoing, she had many dear friends and was beloved by her family.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date this summer.
