She was the wife of the late Armand R. Tougas to whom she was married for 60 years before his passing. Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Juliette (Noel) Bosse.
Muriel was the beloved mother of Robert M. Tougas and his wife Jane, Ronald R. Tougas and his companion Teri, Dennis G. Tougas and his wife Laura, and Cheryl A. Raposa and her husband Scott. She was the cherished grandmother of Michelle Lyons (Gray), Jeffrey Tougas (Or), Alicia Bairos (Andrew), Michael Tougas (Lindsay), Daniel Tougas, Allison Tougas, Lauren Garnica (Juan) and Benjamin Raposa; great-grandmother of Theo, Violet and Sylvia Claire Lyons, and James Tougas. She was also the sister of Paulette Shaw (Kenneth) and Sue Crosby (Bruce).
Mem, as her grandchildren knew her, was a renowned housemaker, was celebrated for crafting the most delectable meat pies for Christmas Eve and playing a great game of high low jack. She loved gatherings with her children and grandchildren. Always up for a good time.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 23, 2026 from 9:00-10:30 am in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am in St. Mark Church, 31 Poplar Drive, Cranston. Burial will be private.
