

Raymond A. Creta, Sr., 88, of Cranston, Rhode Island passed away on August 16, 2026, after a brief illness. Born in Providence, he was the beloved son of the late Anthony and Frieda (Kluttig) Creta. He was the devoted husband of the late Ann T. (Venagro) Creta, with whom he shared 63 incredible years of marriage.
After graduating from Warwick Veterans Memorial High School, Ray went on to earn both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in teaching from Rhode Island College. He went on to teach mathematics in the Warwick school system for an impressive 37 years. In his well-earned retirement, he enjoyed living half the year in Florida, going on cruises, and spending time with his wife, whom he loved very much. Always a dedicated family man, “Papa” cherished time with his grandchildren; he could regularly be found going on candy walks to the local corner store or having “Muffin Sunday” after a sleepover.
Ray will be greatly missed by his family, with whom he shared strong bonds. He is survived by his children, Susan M. (Creta) Strobel and her husband Stephen; Raymond A. Creta Jr and his wife Angela; and Andrew L. Creta and his wife Jennifer. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Raymond and Roxane Strobel, Michael and Matthew Creta, Elizabeth Harris, Nina Creta; and 7 great-grandchildren: Charles and Thomas Strobel, Elisa, Calvin, Luna and Harper Creta, and Rayna Harris. He was predeceased by his late brother, David F Creta.
Family and friends are invited to his Mass of Christian Burial, which will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 10 am, at Saint Joseph Church, 854 Providence Street, West Warwick. Burial will follow at Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. All are welcome to celebrate Ray’s life.
