Sharon H. Clingham

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Haydn and Dorothy (Gray) Hirst. Sharon pursued a lifelong dedication to learning and care, earning her nursing degree from Newport Hospital School of Nursing, followed by both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Salve Regina College in Newport, RI.

Sharon worked with compassion and skill as a registered nurse and administrator at Fatima Hospital in North Providence. Following her retirement from Fatima, she continued her commitment to service by working at the VA Hospital in Providence, where she cared for and supported veterans.

In addition to her professional life, Sharon gave generously of her time and talents. She was an active volunteer in the URI Master Gardener Program and contributed to the Roger Williams Park Produce Donation Garden, helping to provide fresh produce for those in need. She was also an avid traveler and had many unforgettable adventures with her friends.

Sharon adored her grandchildren and treasured time with her family. She is survived by her children, Megan Clingham and her husband Stephen Eldridge of Warwick, RI, and Gavin Clingham and his wife Megan McCormick of Bethesda, MD; her beloved grandchildren, Haydn Clingham, Lucy Eldridge, and William Clingham; and her sisters, Marion H. Edward and her husband Charles of Scituate, RI, and Kathleen H. Segal and her husband Robert of Smithfield, RI; and her beloved dog Indie.

She will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family, her profession friends and her community.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon in the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick, RI, followed by a Memorial Service at 12:00 noon.
